Michael Egan, L.Ac., Dipl. Om., M.Om.

Michael is a Licensed Acupuncturist in Minnesota and nationally certified in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine (NCCAOM). He is also the founder of Performance Acupuncture LLC, an acupuncture and Chinese medicine clinic in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Michael graduated summa cum laude with a Masters Degree in Oriental Medicine from the Minnesota College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine at Northwestern health Sciences University. During his clinical education, he interned at WoodWinds HealthEast Hospital and the Courage Center. In 2009 he completed a Certificate of Study at Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in China where he studied the treatment of post-stroke recovery and orthopedics. Michael was also a credentialed acupuncturist at Woodwinds-HealthEast Hospital. He is committed to continuing education and has learned from renowned acupuncturists including: Kiiko Matsumoto, Richard Tan, Matt Callison, Tom Bisio and John Chen.

Michael serves as an adjunct clinical faculty member at the CAOM at Northwestern Health Sciences University where he supervises acupuncture interns and teaches herbal pharmacy management. He is a current board member for the Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Association of Minnesota.

He has been studying and practicing martial arts for over 20 years and received his 2nd degree black belt in Shotokan karate from the late master Hidetaka Nishiyama. He has also studied tai chi, qi gong, Okinawan kempo, Brazilian jujitsu, aikido and Zen meditation. Michael currently teaches tai chi and qi gong for health.

Michael enjoys spreading the word about acupuncture and Chinese medicine and has done public speaking for Target Corporate, The YWCA, The YMCA, nursing students form St. Kate's, Medical students from the University of Minnesota and ECMC.

He discovered this amazing form of healing first as a patient. He had an extremely painful case of tennis elbow that did not responded to western medicine. After several treatments of acupuncture, the pain went away and never returned. This led him on a new life path toward his own healing and the healing of others.

His interests include: all things funny, skiing, tennis, martial arts, Asian philosophy, fantastic food and hanging with his pooch.
